SHPE | UIUC has had a long and successful tradition of inviting high school students to campus to learn more about Engineering at Illinois. Our student-run programs involve a team of volunteers and months of planning to make these events special for aspiring college students. From our popular High School Visitation programs each semester to our ongoing Outreach events, there are plenty of opportunities to learn about how YOU can be tomorrow's engineer.



The UIUC Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is proud to once again be hosting our annual Spring High School Visitation program for admitted Hispanic and Latinx students interested in getting a deeper dive into life at UIUC and as a member of SHPE. The weekend will include informational sessions, tours, workshops, community-building activities, and meet & greets with various campus organizations and staff.

For this event, HSV students can be driven by trained SHPE members in a UIUC-rented van from the Chicagoland area or find their own way to campus. Lunch, dinner, and transportation will be provided free of cost. Here is more detailed information about transportation times and locations:

  • Chicago Pickup Time and Location - 6:00 AM from Union Station
  • Campus Dropoff Time and Location - 9:00 AM at Illinois Street Residence Hall, Rooms 94AB (1010 W Illinois St, Urbana, IL 61801)
  • Campus Departure Time and Location - 10:00 AM La Casa Cultural Latina (1203 W Nevada St, Urbana, IL 61801)
  • Chicago Dropoff Time and Location - 1:00 PM at Union Station

Guardians who would like to drop off and pick up their students can drop them off at 1010 W Illinois St, Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois Street Residence Halls) Rooms 94AB at 9:00am and pick them up at 1203 W Nevada St, Urbana, IL 61801 (La Casa Cultural Latina) at 10:00 am.
