The Illinois Scholars Undergraduate Research (ISUR) Program is currently accepting applications for the 2022-2023 cohort. Undergraduate students receive a minimum of $1000 research scholarship for the academic year to do research with a research mentor (faculty member, graduate student, postdoc, or research staff). ISUR scholars also may receive research credit via independent study course. Mentors receive a mentor award that may be utilized for professional development and/or expenses related to the undergraduate student's research project. Students graduating in December 2022 are not eligible to apply.
To apply to be an ISUR Scholar, students must be
- A University of Illinois student in an engineering discipline*
- A U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- In good academic standing with a University of Illinois GPA of 3.0 or higher
Funding is available for all majors, year-levels, and engineering research areas.
*Students outside of engineering disciplines can be considered depending on the nature of the research proposed. Note that priority will be given to engineering students.
