New Student Registration (NSR) Positions

    • New Student Registration (NSR) Assistant

      NSR Assistants are trained undergraduates that support incoming freshmen and transfer students during summer registration and create a welcoming environment for their on-campus or online experience.

      Qualifications

      • Engineering student in good academic standing
      • Eligible to work in the United States, on-campus and/or remote
      • Effective communication and teamwork skills
      • Enthusiastic to welcome students to campus and make a positive impact on their experience

      Reponsibilities

      • Provide guidance and advice to incoming engineering students on topics such as resources and tips for transitioning to UIUC
      • Staff registration help rooms and navigate registration challenges (there will be training)
      • Lead community-building activities and accompany student groups during their NSR day
      • Support NSR logistics such as check-in and schedule checks
      • Collaborate and communicate with co-NSR Assistants, NSR Student Director(s), and GFX staff
      • Participate in weekly staff meetings during NSR

      Time Commitment

      • One mandatory training session in May
      • On-campus and/or remote availability to work at least 8 hrs/wk up to 40 hrs/wk during 5/30/23 – 7/14/23, and some days in August (dates flexible)

      Compensation

      • $13/hr
    • New Student Registration (NSR) Student Director

      NSR Student Directors are trained advanced undergraduates that help oversee NSR Assistants and NSR activities for incoming freshmen and transfer students during summer registration. They are the main point of contact for NSR related items for the GFX staff.

      Qualifications

      • Engineering student in good academic standing
      • Eligible to work in the United States, on-campus and/or remote
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills and organization
      • Documented teamwork and leadership experience
      • Enthusiastic to welcome students to campus and make a positive impact on their experience

      Reponsibilities

      • Collaborate and communicate effectively with co-student director, GFX staff, NSR Assistants, Department and College Advisors, and other units
      • Assist GFX staff with NSR Assistant scheduling and training sessions
      • Provide regular updates and feedback to GFX staff, daily during NSR
      • Support NSR Assistant responsibilities
      • Support NSR Assistants, advisors, and units through daily challenges
      • Participate in biweekly staff meetings from mid April through late May then weekly staff meetings during NSR

      Time Commitment

      • Biweekly staff meetings from mid April through late May
      • One mandatory training session in May
      • On-campus and/or remote availability to work at least 20 hrs/wk up to 40 hrs/wk during 5/30/23 – 7/14/23, and some days in August (dates flexible)

      Compensation

      • $15/hr
