Head ELA Position

A Head Engineering Learning Assistant (ELA) is a trained advanced undergraduate who helps oversee the ELAs and ENG 100 course activities for all departments. They are the main point of contact for ENG 100 related items for the GFX Staff.

Qualifications

  • Engineering student in good academic standing
  • Eligible to work in the United States/on campus
  • Have taught one semester of ENG100 before Fall appointment
  • Documented leadership and involvement in University, department, and/or engineering organizations
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Enthusiastic about sharing first-hand experiences with first-year students

Responsibilities

  • Attend and help facilitate Launch!
  • Instruct and facilitate one ENG100 section of 20-25 students, following materials provided
  • Provide direction, guidance, and mentorship to students in their ENG100 section in the fall
  • Assist GFX Assistant Director with Training Sessions
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Co-Head ELA
  • Communciate and maintain relationship with all Lead ELAs
  • Communicate program status regularly with GFX Assistant Director

Training Requirements

Meetings in Spring semester with previous Head ELAs and GFX Assistant Director

Time Commitment

10-15 hours per week

Compensation

$15.00/hour
