Office of Inclusion & Intercultural Relations

The Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations (OIIR) is dedicated to recruiting and retaining underrepresented students, diversity education, civic engagement, and fostering the leadership skills necessary to develop global citizens. OIIR’s initiatives aim to support all students across campus through services and programs. In addition to our Diversity & Social Justice Education and International Education units, OIIR includes six cultural and resource centers (find out more about Cultural Centers @ UIUC in the next section)

International Family Welcome

Parent & Family Programs helps University of Illinois parents and families develop the skills necessary to become effective coaches and mentors to their students by providing high-quality, accessible communications, tools, resources, and services. Parent & Family Programs works collaboratively with the Moms and Dads Associations to provide programs and support for parents.

Off-Campus Housing

Our mission is to stimulate fairness in landlord-tenant relationships and to support students residing off campus with the information and resources they need to be engaged in the community and build constructive relationships with peers, landlords, and other community leaders. We will model respectful dissent and appreciation for individuality while also promoting social justice, a welcoming environment and acceptance of all differences that make us unique.

Cultural Centers @ UIUC

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has a variety of cultural centers to embrace different cultures of students around the world. These cultural centers aim to engage both domestic and international students @ UIUC and empower diverse perspectives through programs and activities! Visit today!

Asian American Cultural Center (AACC)

The Asian American Cultural Center has developed many resources to address the needs and interests of Asian Americans and those interested in Asian American issues. Opened in fall 2005, the Asian American Cultural Center provides the University of Illinois community with space to gather and share the diverse and rich cultures that are a part of the Asian American experience.

La Casa Cultural Latina

The mission of La Casa Cultural Latina is to promote a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere through the development of educational, cultural, socio-political, and social programs that lead to greater recruitment, retention, advancement, and empowerment of Latina/o students. La Casa engages current and future leaders through mentorship, civic engagement, and the promotion of social advocacy.

Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center

The mission of Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center is to provide a network of programs and support services promoting the individual, social, cultural and academic well-being of Illinois’ African American students. We develop sustainable initiatives that examine the Black experience in the United States and throughout the African Diaspora via critical dialogue, heritage exploration and the performing arts. Furthermore, we challenge all Illinois students to critically assess their role as global citizens and to consciously advocate for a respectful campus environment and community.

Native American House

The Native American House is a part of Student Success, Inclusion & Belonging (SSIB) within Student Affairs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. SSIB units provide support for students to reach their personal, academic, and professional goals through curricular and co-curricular engagement opportunities.

Saalam MENA Cultural Center

Established in 2022, the Salaam Middle East & North Africa Cultural Center is the newest cultural center at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Salaam is one of the first Middle East and North Africa cultural centers as a division of Student Affairs at a public university to open in the United States.
