Assistant Dean & Director
Dean Favila is an Illinois alumnus with degrees in General Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. In addition to the ARISE program, he oversees various student-centered retention and recruitment activities in the College’s Undergraduate Programs Office including the Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) and the Morrill Engineering Program (MEP).
Coordinator for ARISE & Student Success
As the Coordinator for ARISE, Emily directly supports all ARISE programs including the planning and implementation of activities, academic support, enrichment, and mentoring efforts. Emily is a first generation college graduate; she graduated from Truman State University with her Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science, and Western Illinois University with her Masters of Science in College Student Personnel. Her research area focuses on the development of grit and resilience in first-generation college students. Emily has worked previously in Residence Life and Academic Advising.
ARISE Graduate Mentor
Aldo is a recent graduate from the Aerospace Department at the University of Illinois. Aldo is currently pursuing a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and continuing his research on composite materials and nanomaterials. He hopes to work bioengineering industry to work with soft robotics.
