Covid-19 Grainger Engineering James Scholar Allowances

Dear Grainger Engineering James Scholar,

 

We hope that you are doing well in these challenging times. In light of these challenges and the Provost’s communication regarding Spring 2020 courses (https://provost.illinois.edu/policies/policies/academic-policy-modifications-spring-2020/ ), we have made the following allowances for Grainger Engineering James Scholar certification requirements for the 2019-2020 Academic Year (AY19/20) only :

 

All James Scholars must:

1) Maintain a 3.5 UIUC GPA
 

2) Submit Semester Plans for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters (https://my.engr.illinois.edu/james-scholar/)


Students may complete these courses in the Semester Plan with a grade of Cr (credit), or P (pass), or a letter grade higher than an F. Although completing courses for an honors grade as intended (via HCLA) is a great opportunity, the honors grade will not be required for Spring 2020
 

3) Students for whom an Honors Contract was due this semester will be granted an extension, and may now submit their Honors Contracts by November 15, 2020, and will need to secure Contract approval from their departmental James Scholar adviser by December 1, 2020.
 

4) Graduating seniors will still be required to complete the terms of their existing Honors Contracts
