Through case studies, interactive projects, and hands-on activities students will learn the fundamentals of service learning and technical skills that will guide them in future project work. In this course students will have a virtual service-learning experience with partners from across the globe working on real projects.

Program Description
This course/study abroad combination seeks to encourage the development of global & intercultural competencies through critical, constructive and creative thinking. Through this service learning opportunity in Bolivia, students will also examine the topics of diversity, teamwork, and culture as it relates to their student development and working with fellow students at the University of Illinois. Students are introduced to the history and culture of Bolivia during the 16 course meetings and work on projects for NGO's and start-ups located in Bolivia. The course concludes with travel to Bolivia and service work with a local NGO. See more below on program cost.

There is a program fee that includes round-trip airfare from Chicago, lodging, on-the-ground transportation costs, program activities, and meals. Additionally, GFX Global Disaster Resilience Scholars will receive a $1500 IPENG travel scholarship. Other campus study abroad scholarships are also available.
